Just over an hour in duration, Feast III managed to put me to sleep by the 35-minute mark. What happened to this series? I had a blast with Feast and Feast II. Then this installment comes along and spoils the fun. It's tough to say exactly how it went sour, as the very elements I detested were utilized in the previous installments: bloody gimmicks, unexpected deaths, humor. But, unlike the previous films, the way in which these elements were utilized faulted the overall experience. Just a bizarre, rushed conclusion to an otherwise pleasing franchise.
I am in complete agreement. As much as I liked the first Feast, it suffered from what I assume was studio interference to make a more mainstream product. With the 2nd one going straight to DVD it was almost as if Gulager was allowed to do whatever the hell he wanted and holy cow was it fun. The 3rd one bored me to fucking tears. It's so short it feels like it was filmed all at once with part 2, and then the last hour was chopped off to release as a seperate movie. It's also not nearly as outrageously gonzo as part 2.
ReplyDeleteI agree for the most part. I also really liked part one. Part 2 had its moments, but it started to slip some. It had some really weird things happen, which continued onto part 3. I was really hoping to learn more about these creatures, but the only thing they really wanted to show us was how they liked to have sex. The end to part 3 was shocking, but in a very very bad way. The worst ending to a movie I think I have ever seen. They ruined something that started off so well.
