The Children (2008)

Rating: D-
Because a rating of F is reserved for the true dregs of the barrel, I chose a D-. As much as I tried and tried to think of something, anything that could redeem this movie for me, I couldn't find it. Terrible on so many levels. Is there a good movie in the Ghost House Underground lineup?

HorrorBlips: vote it up!

  1. Yeah, this movie sucked, which is a real shame because I liked the initial set-up and character development.

Dance of the Dead is the only all around great film I've seen from Ghost House.

  3. GGG - I've added that to the queue. Thanks!

Becky - I know! That's what prompted me to check it out. (I'd love to see a CAPS review for this one, by the way.)

  4. This was #13 on my top 20 list of 2009.

It's above average for a killer kid movie...what did you think of Orphan?

  5. Jaded - Waiting, waiting, waiting on Netflix to ship it! Hopefully it delves a little deeper than Joshua, though that one had its moments.

  7. Zombie - I suggest renting it first. Or borrowing it if possible. In any case, thanks for thinking so highly of my opinion!

  9. Saying that I thought Orphan was rubbish too. The ending was absurd.

  10. Challis - I'm still waiting on Netflix to ship Orphan and seriously considering just picking it up from the Redbox for $1. Orphan is another that I've been seeing a wide range of reviews on, so it'll be interesting to see how it stacks up. This movie, The Children, though...yeah...you said it best...

  11. For what it's worth, I liked Orphan a good deal. And it doesn't hurt that Skaarsgard is in it (half naked in a couple of scenes, surprisingly). Seriously though, naked Skaarsgard aside, I thought Orphan was a good time.

  12. I'm finally going to watch Orphan next week with someone who managed to get it shipped to them! Ended up removing it from my Netflix queue--I don't want to miss this Tuesday's releases:Zombieland and The House of the Devil!
